Star Trip Has Moved!
You've read that right! In fact, you can probably see it if you are visiting this site and wondering why it looks different. Star Trip is no longer a part of Hiveworks.
I decided it was time to break from the publisher and have more control over the look of my comic's website as well as how I share what is left of the story. I appreciate all the support Hiveworks has given my comic over the years, but I am also very happy about this change.
So, what is this change? Well...
- The site will no longer be following the Monday/Wednesday/Friday update schedule (though honestly it hasn't been following that schedule for a hot minute, lol). Instead, I will be returning to my ancient schedule of the full chapter drop. Once a chapter is done, y'all get it! Subscribers to my Patreon will get to see everything first though, and in smaller bites.
- Star Trip will no longer be managed through Comic Control. I won't be getting into the nitty gritty of it, but long story short Comic Control is an old and no longer updated content management system. I do not feel comfortable working with something that has not been touched by its original creator (nor anyone in the tech community) for years.
- This means that Star Trip will be a fully static site. Which further means that the comic should be faster to load and not take up as much bandwidth as a dynamic site would. It will also be a far more stable archive since it will be built with only HTML and CSS (the basic building blocks of webpages) with a little bit of JavaScript. I will also be handcoding the whole thing myself.
- This also means that Star Trip will no longer have a comment section. I was already burnt out on community management/moderation before the internet got really bad, but I especially don't want to do it now. Feel free to go make your own fan communities/forums/reddits though.
- AND FINALLY! Star Trip will no longer have ads on its site. If you really want to support me and the comic you can of course do so through my Patreon, but otherwise I am a day job haver and I have long ago determined that I do not want to live off of my art. I still love making it though.
Besides these changes here are some additions that I'm really looking forward to...
- A possible blog section where I can ramble, for as long as the comic is updating.
- A side gallery where I can store some miscellaneous art I've done for the comic.
- Better accessibility, with alt text and transcripts. These will take some time for me to implement, but they will be implemented.
- A responsive design for the site, so that you all can more comfortably enjoy the comic on your phones.
- Custom fonts
- A favicon!!
For the rest of the winter of 2025 leading into 2026 I will be refining the look of this new site and uploading the old pages. My hope/goal is that I will have the whole of Chapter 11 Act 2 to share in the spring of 2026, but it could be later... hopefully not later than the end of 2026, though.
If you want updates on how things are progressing you can subscribe to my Patreon where I will be sharing updates on my progress with the website, as well as any pages I've finished drawing (or re-drawing 👀). You can also subscribe to this site's snazzy manually updated RSS feed to have updates beamed directly into your feed reader FOR FREE.
I look forward to finally seeing the end of this comic in a way that makes me satisfied and to give all of you still reading the closure you seek. Thank you for sticking with me all these years.
